Returning Student Scholarships

We're interested in your future and supporting your goals for academic success, including college affordability. For students returning to UMKC we may be able to reinstate your scholarship eligibility or offer you a different award.

Returning Student Scholarships

  • If you were a student that attended UMKC in recent years, and you were receiving an automatic scholarship, you may be eligible to reinstate your previous award .
  • Qualifications
    • Students originally admitted to UMKC in the Fall 2019 semester or after
    • You were originally admitted as a First Time College Student or a Transfer student
    • At some point after starting your academic career you withdrew from UMKC and did not return
    • You are not a student in a professional program from the school of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry or Law
    • You have not already earned a bachelor's degree
  • Students cumulative GPA when they left will be used to determine which automatic award they may be offered
  • Students will receive a returning student scholarship that is equivalent the original automatic award they had as a First Time College Student or as a Transfer Student as long as their GPA meets the renewal criteria for that award.
  • Students will receive only the highest award for which they qualify

Competitive Scholarships

As a returning student you are eligible to complete our competitive scholarships application.

  • Competitive scholarships are awarded based on criteria of each scholarship. Funding may be limited for certain competitive scholarships, and some awards require additional application materials
  • The application period for most competitive scholarships is October 1–March 1
  • Some awards may require additional qualifications, which will be listed in the application
