All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law. You receive only the highest automatic award for which you qualify. Eligibility criteria is based on being admitted in the Summer 2023 semester.

First-Time College Student

Curators’ Scholar Award

  • Academic year amount
    • $5,000
  • Eligibility
    • Resident of Missouri
    • ACT composite score of 28 or above
    • OR
    • High school core GPA of 3.75 or above
  • Requirements
    • Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
    • Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year
    • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law
    • Automatic scholarships cannot be combined with other automatic scholarships. You receive only the highest automatic award for which you qualify. 
  • Renewal requirement
    • 3.25 cumulative UMKC GPA for up to five years of undergraduate study
    • Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
    • Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year

Academic Excellence Award

  • Academic year amount
    • $5,000
  • Eligibility
    • Kansas resident
    • ACT composite score of 28 or above
    • OR
    • High school core GPA of 3.75 or above
  • Requirements
    • Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
    • Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year
    • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law

Chancellor's Award

    • Resident of Missouri or Kansas
    • ACT composite score of 25 or above
    • OR
    • High school core GPA of 3.5 or above
  • Requirements
    • Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
    • Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year
    • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law

Provost's Award

    • $2,500
  • Eligibilityy
    • Resident of Missouri or Kansas
    • ACT composite score of 22 or above
    • OR
    • High school core GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Requirements
    • Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
    • Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year
    • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law

District High School Award

  • Academic year amount
    • $1,500
  • Eligibility
    • High School graduate from Kansas City Public School District or North Kansas City Schools
    • Award may be combined with with the highest automatic award a student is eligible to receive
  • Requirements
    • Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
    • Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year
    • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law
  • Renewal requirement
    • 2.5 cumulative UMKC GPA for up to five years of undergraduate study
    • Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)

Metro Kansas City High School Award

  • Academic year amount
    • $1,000
  • Eligibility
    • Graduate of Alta Vista Charter High School, F.L. Schlagle High School, Guadalupe Centers High School, Hogan Preparatory High School, J.C. Harmon High School, Piper High School, Southwest Early College Campus, Sumner Academy of Arts & Science, Success Academy, Turner High School, University Academy Charter School, Washington High School or Wyandotte High School
  • Requirements
    • Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
    • Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year
    • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law
    • Automatic scholarships cannot be combined with other automatic scholarships. You receive only the highest automatic award for which you qualify. 
  • Renewal requirement
    • 2.5 cumulative UMKC GPA for up to five years of undergraduate study

Roo Advantage Scholarship

  • Academic year amount
    • The amount depends on the amount of other gift aid and enrollment.  The award ensures tuition and fees are met for full-time, Pell-eligible Missouri and Kansas residents who file the FAFSA by April 1.
  • Eligibility
    • Full-time, first-time freshmen (Beginning with Fall 2022)
    • Undergraduate students working on first bachelor’s degree
    • Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
    • Pell Grant-eligible
    • Missouri or Kansas resident
    • Medicine, Pharmacy, and athletes are not eligible

    • High school core GPA of 3.9 or above
  • Requirements
    • Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
    • Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year
    • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law

    • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law

    • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law

    • 2.5 cumulative UMKC GPA for up to 5 years of undergraduate study

Transfer Student

Chancellor's Transfer Award

  • Academic year amount
    • $3,500 plus nonresident tuition differential
  • Eligibility
    • 24 transferable credit hours
    • 3.5 cumulative GPA in all college work attempted
    • Working toward first bachelor’s degree 
  • Requirements
    • Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
    • Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year
    • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law
    • Automatic scholarships cannot be combined with other automatic scholarships. You receive only the highest automatic award for which you qualify. 
  • Renewal requirement
    • 3.0 cumulative UMKC GPA for up to three years of undergraduate study
    • Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)

Provost Transfer Award

  • Academic year amount
    • $2,500 plus nonresident tuition differential
  • Eligibility
    • 24 transferable credit hours
    • 3.0 cumulative GPA in all college work attempted
    • Working toward first bachelor’s degree 
  • Requirements
    • Full-time enrollment (12+ UMKC credits per semester)
    • Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year
    • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident

    • Complete and earn 24 UMKC credits per year
    • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • All first-time college students are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Law
    • Automatic scholarships cannot be combined with other automatic scholarships. You receive only the highest automatic award for which you qualify. 
    • Funding for this program is limited.
  • Undergraduate renewal requirements
