Students admitted prior to Fall 2025, please see the following eligibility and renewal criteria previously used for the Roo Advantage Scholarship.
The Roo Advantage Scholarship is a need-based award that covers the gap between a student’s gift aid (scholarships and grants) and their remaining tuition and fee costs. Simply review the criteria below to determine if you qualified and also make sure you had completed the FAFSA by April 1st for initial eligibility and renewal each year.
Eligibility
- Complete the FAFSA by April 1st (Fall 2024 Admitted Students this deadline was adjusted to July 1)
- Pell-eligible
- Missouri and Kansas Residents
- Admitted as an incoming first year or transfer undergraduate students (Beginning with Fall 2022)
- Transfer students must have earned an Associates degree prior to transferring to UMKC
- Full-time enrollment
- Undergraduate Medicine, Undergraduate Pharmacy, and Athletes are excluded.
How much is the award?
- The award covers any remaining gap between a student’s gift aid (scholarships and grants) and their remaining tuition and fee costs.
Renewal Criteria
- File FAFSA by April 1st in subsequent years (Note: For Academic Year 2024-25 the FAFSA Submission deadline was extended to July 1st)
- Remain Pell Eligible
- Complete 24 credit hours per year
- Maintain a 2.5 GPA
