Scholarships are awarded based on ACT or SAT score and High School Core GPA. (High School Core GPA is calculated from the 17 core requirements of the university) All new incoming freshmen are considered for these awards with the exception of students in the School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, School of Dentistry, and the School of Law. Students will receive only the highest award for which they qualify.

It All Starts With the FAFSA
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is required for many kinds of financial aid. Complete an online form at fafsa.gov.
- UMKC’s priority deadline is Feb. 1.
- UMKC’s FAFSA code is 002518.
- The FAFSA for each upcoming year is available starting October 1st

Grants
Grants are based primarily on financial need; repayment is not required.
UMKC ADVANTAGE GRANT
The UMKC Advantage Grant ensures tuition is met for full-time, Pell-eligible Missouri residents who file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by April 1.
Student-athletes, Medicine, Pharmacy and Conservatory students are not eligible for the UMKC Advantage Grant.
Loans
Students and parents can borrow money, usually at reduced interest rates. Loans must be repaid. Among the best-known options are direct subsidized, direct unsubsidized and Parent PLUS loans.
Campus Employment
UMKC spends $10 million annually on student employment. One option is Federal Work-Study, a program that provides funding for part-time jobs both on and off campus.
