  • Graduate and professional students in Dentistry, Law, Medicine and Pharmacy not eligible
  • Automatic scholarships cannot be combined with other automatic scholarships

Curators’ Scholar Award

  • Academic year amount
    • $5,000

    • Resident of Missouri
    • ACT composite score of 28 or above
    • High school core GPA of 3.75 or above

Provost's Award

    • $2,000

Metro Kansas City High School Award

    • Graduate of Alta Vista Charter High School, Central Academy, East High School, F.L. Schlagle High School, Hogan Preparatory High School, J.C.     • $2,000 plus nonresident tuition differential

    • 40 transferable credit hours
    • 3.0 cumulative GPA in all college work attempted

Incoming freshmen

Henry W. Bloch Scholars

  • Academic year amount
    • Full tuition and fees, renewable for up to five years for first-time college students and up to three years for transfer students
    • Dedicated peer mentor through the UMKC Peer Academic Leadership Program
    • Membership to a campus community of scholars with shared goals of college success to local students with a determination to succeed, regardless of their finances, test scores or life circumstances
  • Eligibility
    • All students entering a standard undergraduate program — not just those planning to enter the Bloch School
    • Live in one of these five area counties — Clay, Jackson or Platte in Missouri, or Johnson or Wyandotte in Kansas
    • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • Demonstrate financial need — eligible or nearly eligible for the Pell Grant
    • Be unable to receive traditional scholarships due to past academic performance or life circumstances
  • Requirements
    • Plan to enroll full time in a standard undergraduate program (students entering professional programs such as the six-year B.A./M.D. program are not eligible)
    • Recipients of the Henry W. Bloch Scholarship may not be eligible for other UMKC scholarships.
  • Renewal option
    • Students who received the Henry W. Bloch Scholars Award while attending Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley or Donnelly College will automatically receive the Henry W. Bloch Scholars Award when they transfer to UMKC

    • Complete the application
    • After submitting the application, you will receive a confirmation email

      • Submit an essay on “Why I Should Receive the Henry W. Bloch Scholars Scholarship,” including information about your accomplishments and life experiences
      • Describe circumstances around a life-changing barrier or challenge you have experienced and how you overcame this circumstance
      • Include one academic, personal or extracurricular activity letter of reference from someone such as a teacher, counselor, coach, mentor, spiritual leader or administrator.

  • Eligibility

    • ACT score of 29 or above (students with lower ACT scores who are eligible or nearly eligible for the Federal Pell Grant Program may also be considered)
    • Core GPA of 3.6 or above
    • Demonstrate leadership or involvement in community engagement activities
    • Full-time enrollment in a standard undergraduate program (students entering professional programs such as the six-year B.A./M.D. program are not eligible)

Herman Johnson Scholarship

  • Eligibility
    • African-American, undergraduate student who is graduating (or graduated) from an accredited high school in Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte or Ray County in Missouri, or Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth or Miami County in Kansas
    • 3.0 grade point average from high school or a 2.5 college grade point average

Purdy Emerging Leaders Scholarship

  • Named in honor of Allan Walker Purdy, the scholarship is awarded to emerging leaders who are outstanding students and who have a need for additional resources for higher education.

Victor Wilson Scholarship

  • Eligibility
    • Full-time undergraduate students at UMKC who are current and long-time residents of Kansas City, MO. Demonstrate unusual ability or talent.

Trustees Scholars Program

  • Academic year amount
    • Full tuition and fees for 120 credit hours
    • $500 toward books for all four years
    • On-campus room and board for a standard double room in Oak Street Residence Hall for years one and two
    • $2,000 stipend toward living expenses in years three and four
  • Eligibility (must meet two of the three academic criteria)
    • Minimum ACT composite score of 30
    • Rank in the top 5% of your high school graduating class
    • Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 in 17-class core curriculum
  • Additional qualifications
    • Community or school involvement and leadership abilities
    • Not available for Medicine, Pharmacy or Architecture students

  • About

Missouri Family Education Loan Program (MOFELP) Scholarship

  • About
    • An interest-free, fee-free private student loan program designed to provide a borrowing option for Missouri students who have financial need and may not meet the traditional credit requirements for private loans. In addition, the program offers a scholarship for incoming freshman students, as well as a scholarship for current students.
