Qualifications

  • Incoming freshman
  • Must meet two of the three following academic criteria:
    • A minimum ACT composite score of 30
    • Rank in the top 5% of their high school graduating class
    • A minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 in 17-class core curriculum
  • In addition, candidates are evaluated on their community or school involvement and leadership abilities
  • Not available for medicine, pharmacy or architecture
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Max Amount

  • Full tuition and fees for 120 credit hours
  • $500 towards books for all 4 years
  • On-campus room and board for a standard double room in Oak Street Residence Hall for years one and two
  • $2,000 stipend toward living expenses in years three and four

Trustees Scholars Program Application (Application Deadline December 1st)

You cannot begin your application for admission to the Trustees’ Scholarship Program until you have completed your application for admission to UMKC.  When you have been admitted to UMKC, the combined Trustees’ Scholarship and Honors College application will appear on the “to-do” list located on your application status page.  The scholarship application deadline is December 1st, which means you have to be admitted to UMKC and complete the Scholarship application before December 1st.  Any questions about the application process can be sent to admissions@umkc.edu.

Marguerite Ross Barnett Memorial Scholarship

Qualifications

  • Complete the FAFSA by August 1 each year. Changes to the FAFSA will be accepted until August 1.
  • Be enrolled at least half time, but less than full time (6-11 credit hours), at a participating Missouri postsecondary school.
  • Be employed and compensated for at least 20 hours per week.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Be a Missouri resident and a United States citizen or a permanent resident.
  • Not be pursuing a degree or certificate in theology or divinity.
  • Not have received your first bachelor’s degree or completed 150 semester credit hours.
  • Not be employed under the Title IV College Work Study program.

Max Amount

The maximum semester scholarship amount is the least of:

  • The tuition charged for 6 or 9 credit hours at the school where you are enrolled part time, or
  • The amount of tuition charged to a Missouri undergraduate resident enrolled in 6 or 9 credit hours in the same class level at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Award amounts for students enrolled in 6, 7 or 8 semester credit hours, or the equivalent, will be calculated based on 6 semester credit hours. Award amounts for students enrolled in 9, 10 or 11 semester credit hours, or the equivalent, will be calculated based on 9 semester credit hours.

Your award amount may vary between semesters depending on the number of credit hours in which you’re enrolled. If you transfer to a different school, your award amount may also change based on the tuition at the school to which you transfer.

Awards are provided each semester based on limited funding availability, with renewal students having priority. As a result, all eligible students may not be funded.

Awards are not available during summer terms.

Tuition Settlement Scholarship

Qualifications

  • Have attended one of four (4) University of Missouri campuses (Columbia, Kansas City, Rolla, St. Louis) during the period from Winter Semester 1995 through Fall Semester 2001 inclusive; and
  • Was a Missouri Resident Undergraduate student at the time of attendance; and
  • Was at least 16 years of age, but under age 22 on the first day of class in at least one semester during this time period.

In addition, spouses and children of qualifying students are also eligible for the TSS.  Additional documentation is required as part of the application process:

  • If you are a spouse you must submit a copy of a marriage certificate and a notarized attestation of marriage
  • If you are a natural child you must submit a copy of your valid birth certificate
  • If you are an adopted child you must submit a copy of the adoption decree

UMKC Herman Johnson African American Scholarship

Qualifications

  • African American student
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited high school in the nine-county area
